WHAT IS SCRAPBOOKING

About Scrapbooking Scrapbooking believe it or not originated in England during the Victorian times.The Victorian were very creative people and keen to keep up with the latest fashion. They loved to present their photographs along with poems and descriptive words in beautifully decorated albums. In some rich area of London there were even scrapbooking shops. Queen Victoria was a keen scrapbooker.

If you are a little confused by the amount of products available and the terminologythen let us lend a hand.

Acid Free: Any products that state they are acid free are safe to use in scrabooking and will not discolour your photos. Acid is the substance that discolours your photo and turns them a yellowish brown.
Lingnin: Lingnin is a substance that occurs naturally in plant cells. Trees are the main source of Lingnin. This substance dehydrates the fibres and causes the paper to become fragile and crack easily.
Mylar: is the polyester used as a protective clear covering in albums and is considered the best quality material to be used.

Tips on designing a page

There are no hard and fast rules to designing a scrap page. Just remember that we are giving you guild lines, at the end of the day if you are happy with your work then that is all that counts. Try and plan your colour scheme, expressions and title around your photo. Ask yourself this questions what do I want to say about my photo. Decide what will be the focal point of your page. Once you have chosen the focal point chose the embellishments that will help to enhance it not distract from it. It is optional to have a Journaling and a title. You don’t have to make the page elaborate or perfect to make it special.

Most important thing is to have fun and enjoy yourself
